Bespoke Cargo Brokerage

In parallel to our online trading platform, we offer a fully bespoke brokerage service for non-standardised physical coal cargoes to buyers, sellers and traders of coal worldwide.

Leveraging our in-depth physical market expertise and global network of contacts, we can help you to place or source any coal regardless of spec, volume or delivery requirements.

Using SCoTA terms as the basis of all our bids and offers, we match buyers and sellers of cargoes originating from the key markets of Indonesia, Australia and South Africa, as well as the USA, Canada and Colombia.

Our expertise covers both thermal and coking coal.

We provide our clients with the most relevant and up-to-the-minute information on market prices and sources of supply or demand.

Our brokers in London and Singapore are at your service throughout Asian and European trading hours.

How it works

How is this service different from your online trading platform?

Looking to source or place a cargo of coal which differs in quality, delivery or other terms from the standardised coal traded on the globalCOAL screen? Our bespoke brokerage service fits the bill.

Negotiate and execute over the phone, by email or in person, rather than via our electronic trading platform.

How can you help me?

With a vast network of contacts around the world, we can help you achieve the best price by putting you in touch with a wide range of buyers and sellers across Asia, Europe and the Americas.

What is SCoTA v8 General Terms and Conditions (GTC)?

SCoTA GTC has all the benefits of a standard contract, without being a Master Agreement:
By using this pre-agreed set of general terms and conditions, you can quickly and easily reflect the commercial terms of a transaction, such as coal specifications, price adjustments for CV and the procedures for selecting surveyors and inspection companies, giving notices and calculating demurrage and despatch

How much does it cost?

We charge a small volume-based commission, which is negotiable and dependent on the complexity of the transaction.

How can I get involved?

Firstly, contact our brokers in London or Singapore to discuss your requirements.

If we can help, we will ask you to:

  1. Complete a Client Information Form, which includes the data we need for our KYC checks
  2. Sign a Brokerage Agreement

You can then request to receive price updates by email and begin to share bids or offers for physical coal to our powerful network of contacts.

Do you guarantee the performance of my counterparty?

Any transaction we broker results in a bilateral contractual relationship between you and your counterparty, in which globalCOAL has no liability. Non-performance must be handled according to the terms of your contract with your counterparty.

We recommend using globalCOAL's SCoTA (Standard Coal trading Agreement) as a contract template because of its tried and tested provisions for non-performance.
